For the past year, Newland House School Engineering Club has been studying the effects of under-inflation of tires on CO2 emissions, with hopes of reducing the amount of the harmful gas in the UK.
Their studies reached the conclusion that having the correct tire pressure has a massive impact on both tire life and CO2 emissions.
In order to assure optimum performance to your vehicle, check all of your tires once a month or whenever they look low. Remember that low tire pressure can lower your gas mileage, make your car handle poorly and even lead to blowouts. Follow these few helpfull steps to keep you safe on the road with properly aired tires!
Low Pressure augments the surface area of the tire, requiring it to work harder to compensate, and thus the threads wear out much too quickly.
Obviously, motorized vehicles are everywhere. Regardless of the type of vehicle—buses, cars, trucks, or motorcycles—they...all rely heavily on tires.
Tires are the only parts of a car which are in contact with the road. Therefore, safety in acceleration, braking, steering, and cornering all depend on a relatively small area of road contact.
Recommended tire inflation pressures for your vehicle can be found in the vehicle handbook and/or the driver’s door post. In the absence of either of these, consult the tire manufacturer.
